Read PWG’s latest objections to the Canatxx scheme
Canatxx claim that this will be a multi-million pound investment for them and as you might expect, the planning application is a significantly sized document
Let us immediately correct the above statement and say that if it ever went ahead it would be a multi-million pound investment for Canatxx' investors rather than for Canatxx themselves who, by their own admission, operate as a collection of small companies which they call Specific Purpose Vehicles (SPV)
This in itself is extremely worrying because the company that is applying for the planning application has the most minimal financial resources and will be fed funds from the investors through other separate Canatxx companies on a need basis. This means that as and when things go wrong, the legally liable organisation, i.e. the SPV operating company could be immediately liquidated, leaving the local and county councils and residents to pick up the pieces and to foot whatever bills are incurred.
Protect Wyre Group have suggested to LCC that without a multi-million pound independent financial bond being put in place, the Canatxx proposals should be rejected out of hand
There are so many facets to the application and each one of these has to be evaluated and challenged where appropriate and thus this cannot be done on a couple of sides of A4
This planning application is the third attempt by Canatxx to obtain consent for their scheme – the last one was rejected, following an appeal and a Public Inquiry which you can read about elsewhere on this site.
